Thanks to all the
wonderful young singers and musicians who entertained us with their musical
talents at the MUSICAL EVENING CELEBRATING PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING in support
of Suitcases for Africa held on Oct 15th at Lakeshore
Unitarian Church in Lachine. Thanks to those who organised this event,
especially Kerry-Anne Kutz whose students were showcased. This event raised

Many
thanks to all who supported our "Empty Bowls" bake sale for food relief
held at Corpus Christi parish in June. We raised $1.062 for
food relief for the people we assist in Kakamega during this terrible famine
which is now finally making the news. We were thrilled by your response which
exceeded our expectations. However, as the price of food keeps rising in Kenya
due to the drought and scarcity of food our funds do not go as far as before
(less food purchased per dollar). Therefore we expect to have to have
more fundraising events like this one. Thank you for your continued support.

Many thanks to Tara Lee for organising the
Empty Bowls Shopping Event held at St Georges Church on May 28th. Thanks
to the vendors who participated & to our supporters who came out to shop on
such a wet Saturday! |

Close to 200 people attended a hugely successful Comedy
Night on
May 6th,
2011 at Christmas Park
School. The event raised close to $3000.
This important
fundraiser was the 5th annual event hosted by Christmas
Park School Parent Committee for Suitcases for Africa.
Previous comedy nights have
raised almost $10,000 for our projects in Kenya.
This year Joey Elias one of Canada's top comedians
was featured. We thank Joey and all the other great comedians for giving us
such great entertainment.
A big thank you
who came out to enjoy an evening of laughter and fun while helping to
support disadvantaged children in Kenya.

Members of Wyman United Church, Hudson
organized a Lenten Lunch in support of Suitcases for Africa in April.
Many thanks to
all those who organized and supported this event which raised $406.00 in funds
(a record breaker for Wyman!) to help SFA projects. These much appreciated
funds will go toward increasing food sustainability projects in the battle
against hunger this year. Following a talk by Darlene Anderson during the
service, everyone stayed and enjoyed homemade soup and dessert.
Many thanks to the wonderful cooks and for
the good company of all who attended. |

Thanks for your generous support of our recent Pasta Supper fundraiser (Feb
2011)
It was a most enjoyable evening and raised more than $3000 for our projects in
2011!
